19:2ذِكْرُ رَحْمَتِ رَبِّكَ عَبْدَهُۥ زَكَرِيَّآAn account of your Lord's mercy to his servant Zakariyya.
19:3إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ نِدَآءً خَفِيًّاwhen he called out to his Lord, a quiet, hidden call,
19:4قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى وَهَنَ ٱلْعَظْمُ مِنِّى وَٱشْتَعَلَ ٱلرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا وَلَمْ أَكُنۢ بِدُعَآئِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّاHe said, "My Lord, my bones have grown weak and my head is alight with grey, yet never, my Lord, has my prayer to you gone unanswered.
19:5وَإِنِّى خِفْتُ ٱلْمَوَٰلِىَ مِن وَرَآءِى وَكَانَتِ ٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرًا فَهَبْ لِى مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيًّاAnd I fear my kinsmen after me, and my wife is barren, so grant me from yourself an heir
19:6يَرِثُنِى وَيَرِثُ مِنْ ءَالِ يَعْقُوبَ ۖ وَٱجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيًّاone who will inherit from me and inherit from the house of Yaʿqub — and make him, my Lord, well-pleasing to you.
19:7يَـٰزَكَرِيَّآ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَـٰمٍ ٱسْمُهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ لَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ سَمِيًّاZakariya, we bring you good news of a son whose name will be Yahya — a name we have given to no one before him.
19:8قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَـٰمٌ وَكَانَتِ ٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرًا وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ ٱلْكِبَرِ عِتِيًّاHe said, "My Lord, how can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached such frailty in old age?"
19:9قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَىَّ هَيِّنٌ وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْـًٔاGod said, "So it will be. Your Lord says, 'It is easy for me — I created you before, when you were nothing.'"
19:10قَالَ رَبِّ ٱجْعَل لِّىٓ ءَايَةً ۚ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ ٱلنَّاسَ ثَلَـٰثَ لَيَالٍ سَوِيًّاHe said, "My Lord, give me a sign." God said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to people for three nights, though sound of body."
19:11فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلْمِحْرَابِ فَأَوْحَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِمْ أَن سَبِّحُوا۟ بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّاSo he came out from the sanctuary to his people and signaled to them to glorify God morning and evening.
19:12يَـٰيَحْيَىٰ خُذِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِقُوَّةٍ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْحُكْمَ صَبِيًّا"Yahya, hold fast to the Scripture with strength." And we gave him wisdom while he was still a child,
19:13وَحَنَانًا مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَزَكَوٰةً ۖ وَكَانَ تَقِيًّاand tenderness from us, and purity — and he was mindful of God,
19:14وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُن جَبَّارًا عَصِيًّاand devoted to his parents, never overbearing or defiant.
19:15وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ وُلِدَ وَيَوْمَ يَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ يُبْعَثُ حَيًّاPeace be upon him the day he was born, the day he dies, and the day he is raised alive.
19:16وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مَرْيَمَ إِذِ ٱنتَبَذَتْ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا مَكَانًا شَرْقِيًّاAnd mention Maryam in the Book, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east,
19:17فَٱتَّخَذَتْ مِن دُونِهِمْ حِجَابًا فَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرًا سَوِيًّاand she screened herself away from them. Then we sent our spirit to her, and he appeared before her as a well-formed man.
19:18قَالَتْ إِنِّىٓ أَعُوذُ بِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ مِنكَ إِن كُنتَ تَقِيًّاShe said, "I seek refuge from you in the Most Merciful — if you are mindful of God."
19:19قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ رَسُولُ رَبِّكِ لِأَهَبَ لَكِ غُلَـٰمًا زَكِيًّاHe said, "I am only a messenger from your Lord, sent to grant you a pure son."
19:20قَالَتْ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَـٰمٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِى بَشَرٌ وَلَمْ أَكُ بَغِيًّاShe said, "How can I have a son when no man has touched me, and I have never been unchaste?"
19:21قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَىَّ هَيِّنٌ ۖ وَلِنَجْعَلَهُۥٓ ءَايَةً لِّلنَّاسِ وَرَحْمَةً مِّنَّا ۚ وَكَانَ أَمْرًا مَّقْضِيًّاHe said, "So it will be. Your Lord says: it is easy for me. And we will make him a sign for the people and a mercy from us. It is a matter already decreed."
19:22۞ فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَٱنتَبَذَتْ بِهِۦ مَكَانًا قَصِيًّاSo she conceived him, and withdrew with him to a distant place.
19:23فَأَجَآءَهَا ٱلْمَخَاضُ إِلَىٰ جِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَـٰذَا وَكُنتُ نَسْيًا مَّنسِيًّاThe pangs of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "If only I had died before this and been forgotten, utterly forgotten."
19:24فَنَادَىٰهَا مِن تَحْتِهَآ أَلَّا تَحْزَنِى قَدْ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحْتَكِ سَرِيًّاA voice called to her from below her: "Do not grieve — your Lord has placed a stream beneath you."
19:25وَهُزِّىٓ إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ تُسَـٰقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَبًا جَنِيًّاAnd shake the trunk of the palm tree toward you — it will drop fresh, ripe dates upon you.
19:26فَكُلِى وَٱشْرَبِى وَقَرِّى عَيْنًا ۖ فَإِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ ٱلْبَشَرِ أَحَدًا فَقُولِىٓ إِنِّى نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ صَوْمًا فَلَنْ أُكَلِّمَ ٱلْيَوْمَ إِنسِيًّاSo eat and drink and be comforted. And if you see anyone at all, say: 'I have vowed a fast to the Most Merciful, so I will not speak to any human today.'
19:27فَأَتَتْ بِهِۦ قَوْمَهَا تَحْمِلُهُۥ ۖ قَالُوا۟ يَـٰمَرْيَمُ لَقَدْ جِئْتِ شَيْـًٔا فَرِيًّاThen she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "Maryam, you have done something outrageous."
19:28يَـٰٓأُخْتَ هَـٰرُونَ مَا كَانَ أَبُوكِ ٱمْرَأَ سَوْءٍ وَمَا كَانَتْ أُمُّكِ بَغِيًّاSister of Harun, your father was not an evil man, nor was your mother unchaste.
19:29فَأَشَارَتْ إِلَيْهِ ۖ قَالُوا۟ كَيْفَ نُكَلِّمُ مَن كَانَ فِى ٱلْمَهْدِ صَبِيًّاShe pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak with one who is a child in the cradle?"
19:30قَالَ إِنِّى عَبْدُ ٱللَّهِ ءَاتَىٰنِىَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ وَجَعَلَنِى نَبِيًّاHe said, "I am a servant of God; he has given me the scripture and made me a prophet."
19:31وَجَعَلَنِى مُبَارَكًا أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُ وَأَوْصَـٰنِى بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ مَا دُمْتُ حَيًّاand he has made me blessed wherever I am, and has charged me with prayer and almsgiving as long as I live,
19:32وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَتِى وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْنِى جَبَّارًا شَقِيًّاand dutiful to my mother, and he has not made me arrogant or wretched.
19:33وَٱلسَّلَـٰمُ عَلَىَّ يَوْمَ وُلِدتُّ وَيَوْمَ أَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ أُبْعَثُ حَيًّاAnd peace be upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I am raised alive.
19:34ذَٰلِكَ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۚ قَوْلَ ٱلْحَقِّ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَThat was Isa, son of Maryam — a statement of the truth about which they remain in dispute.
19:35مَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ مِن وَلَدٍ ۖ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥٓ ۚ إِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُIt is not for God to take a son. Glory be to him! When he decrees a matter, he only says to it, "Be," and it is.
19:36وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّى وَرَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚ هَـٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ مُّسْتَقِيمٌ"Indeed, God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship him. This is a straight path."
19:37فَٱخْتَلَفَ ٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْ ۖ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن مَّشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍYet the factions differed among themselves. So woe to those who deny, from the scene of a tremendous day.
19:38أَسْمِعْ بِهِمْ وَأَبْصِرْ يَوْمَ يَأْتُونَنَا ۖ لَـٰكِنِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ٱلْيَوْمَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍHow clearly they will hear and see on the day they come to us! But today the wrongdoers are in plain error.
19:39وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْحَسْرَةِ إِذْ قُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ وَهُمْ فِى غَفْلَةٍ وَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَAnd warn them of the day of regret, when the matter is decided — while they remain heedless and do not believe.
19:40إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَرِثُ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَنْ عَلَيْهَا وَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَIndeed, we are the ones who inherit the earth and all who are upon it, and to us they are returned.
19:41وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّاAnd mention in the Book Ibrahim. He was truly a man of truth, a prophet.
19:42إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لَا يَسْمَعُ وَلَا يُبْصِرُ وَلَا يُغْنِى عَنكَ شَيْـًٔاWhen he said to his father, "My father, why do you worship what cannot hear and cannot see and cannot help you in any way?
19:43يَـٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّى قَدْ جَآءَنِى مِنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ مَا لَمْ يَأْتِكَ فَٱتَّبِعْنِىٓ أَهْدِكَ صِرَٰطًا سَوِيًّاMy father, knowledge has come to me that has not come to you, so follow me — I will guide you to a straight path.
19:44يَـٰٓأَبَتِ لَا تَعْبُدِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عَصِيًّاMy father, do not worship Satan. Indeed, Satan has been defiant toward the Most Merciful.
19:45يَـٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٌ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَـٰنِ وَلِيًّاMy father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Merciful will touch you, and you will become an ally of Satan.
19:46قَالَ أَرَاغِبٌ أَنتَ عَنْ ءَالِهَتِى يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ ۖ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ ۖ وَٱهْجُرْنِى مَلِيًّاHe said, "Do you turn away from my gods, Ibrahim? If you do not stop, I will surely stone you. Stay away from me for a long time."
19:47قَالَ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكَ ۖ سَأَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّىٓ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِى حَفِيًّاIbrahim said, "Peace be upon you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you; indeed, he has always been gracious to me.
19:48وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَمَا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى عَسَىٰٓ أَلَّآ أَكُونَ بِدُعَآءِ رَبِّى شَقِيًّاI will withdraw from you and from what you call upon besides God, and I will call upon my Lord. Perhaps in calling upon my Lord I will not be left unanswered.
19:49فَلَمَّا ٱعْتَزَلَهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۖ وَكُلًّا جَعَلْنَا نَبِيًّاSo when he withdrew from them and from what they worshipped besides God, we granted him Ishaq and Yaʿqub, and each of them we made a prophet.
19:50وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُم مِّن رَّحْمَتِنَا وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ عَلِيًّاAnd we granted them of our mercy, and gave them a true and lofty renown.
19:51وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مُوسَىٰٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مُخْلَصًا وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّاAnd mention in the Book, Musa. Indeed, he was chosen in sincerity, and he was a messenger, a prophet.
19:52وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ مِن جَانِبِ ٱلطُّورِ ٱلْأَيْمَنِ وَقَرَّبْنَـٰهُ نَجِيًّاAnd we called to him from the right side of the mount, and drew him near in intimate communion.
19:53وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥ مِن رَّحْمَتِنَآ أَخَاهُ هَـٰرُونَ نَبِيًّاAnd out of our mercy we granted him his brother Harun as a prophet.
19:54وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِسْمَـٰعِيلَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صَادِقَ ٱلْوَعْدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولًا نَّبِيًّاAnd mention in the Book Isma'il. He was true to his promise, and he was a messenger, a prophet.
19:55وَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ أَهْلَهُۥ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ مَرْضِيًّاHe used to instruct his family in prayer and almsgiving, and he was pleasing to his Lord.
19:56وَٱذْكُرْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ إِدْرِيسَ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقًا نَّبِيًّاAnd mention in the Book Idris. Indeed, he was a man of truth, a prophet.
19:57وَرَفَعْنَـٰهُ مَكَانًا عَلِيًّاAnd we raised him to a high station.
19:58أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مِن ذُرِّيَّةِ ءَادَمَ وَمِمَّنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّةِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَمِمَّنْ هَدَيْنَا وَٱجْتَبَيْنَآ ۚ إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ خَرُّوا۟ سُجَّدًا وَبُكِيًّا ۩These are the ones God favored among the prophets — from the descendants of Adam, from those we carried with Nuh, from the descendants of Ibrahim and Isra'il, and from those we guided and chose. When the signs of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell down, prostrating and weeping.
19:59۞ فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيًّاBut after them came successors who abandoned prayer and followed their desires — they will meet ruin,
19:60إِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًا فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ شَيْـًٔاExcept those who repent, believe, and do righteous deeds — they will enter the garden and will not be wronged in the least.
19:61جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍ ٱلَّتِى وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ عِبَادَهُۥ بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَأْتِيًّاGardens of Eden, which the Most Merciful has promised to his servants in the unseen. That promise will surely come to pass.
19:62لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا إِلَّا سَلَـٰمًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ رِزْقُهُمْ فِيهَا بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيًّاThere they will hear no idle talk, only peace, and there they will have their provision, morning and evening.
19:63تِلْكَ ٱلْجَنَّةُ ٱلَّتِى نُورِثُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا مَن كَانَ تَقِيًّاSuch is the garden we give as inheritance to those of our servants who were mindful of God.
19:64وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمْرِ رَبِّكَ ۖ لَهُۥ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيًّاWe descend only by the command of your Lord. To him belongs what is before us, what is behind us, and what lies between. Your Lord is never forgetful.
19:65رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَٱعْبُدْهُ وَٱصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَـٰدَتِهِۦ ۚ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِيًّاLord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them — so worship him, and be steadfast in his worship. Do you know of any who shares his name?
19:66وَيَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَءِذَا مَا مِتُّ لَسَوْفَ أُخْرَجُ حَيًّاAnd the human being says, "Once I am dead, will I really be brought forth alive?"
19:67أَوَلَا يَذْكُرُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ يَكُ شَيْـًٔاDoes the human being not remember that we created him before, when he was nothing?
19:68فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْ وَٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ ثُمَّ لَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْ حَوْلَ جَهَنَّمَ جِثِيًّاBy your Lord, we will surely gather them along with the devils, then we will bring them to their knees around jahannam.
19:69ثُمَّ لَنَنزِعَنَّ مِن كُلِّ شِيعَةٍ أَيُّهُمْ أَشَدُّ عَلَى ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عِتِيًّاThen we will drag out from every faction whichever of them was most defiant against the Most Merciful.
19:70ثُمَّ لَنَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِهَا صِلِيًّاThen surely we know best those most deserving to burn in it.
19:71وَإِن مِّنكُمْ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا ۚ كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ حَتْمًا مَّقْضِيًّاThere is not one of you who will not come to it — a decree your Lord has fixed and ordained.
19:72ثُمَّ نُنَجِّى ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوا۟ وَّنَذَرُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ فِيهَا جِثِيًّاThen we will deliver those who were mindful of God, and leave the wrongdoers there on their knees.
19:73وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتُنَا بَيِّنَـٰتٍ قَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَىُّ ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ خَيْرٌ مَّقَامًا وَأَحْسَنُ نَدِيًّاAnd when our clear signs are recited to them, those who deny say to those who believe, "Which of the two groups holds the better position, and which keeps the finer company?"
19:74وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَحْسَنُ أَثَـٰثًا وَرِءْيًاAnd how many generations before them did we destroy, finer in possessions and appearance!
19:75قُلْ مَن كَانَ فِى ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةِ فَلْيَمْدُدْ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ مَدًّا ۚ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْا۟ مَا يُوعَدُونَ إِمَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ وَإِمَّا ٱلسَّاعَةَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَأَضْعَفُ جُندًاSay: whoever is in error, let the Most Merciful prolong their span — until, when they see what they were promised, whether the punishment or the hour, they will know who is worse in standing and weaker in forces.
19:76وَيَزِيدُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱهْتَدَوْا۟ هُدًى ۗ وَٱلْبَـٰقِيَـٰتُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَابًا وَخَيْرٌ مَّرَدًّاAnd God increases in guidance those who follow guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better in your Lord's sight for reward and better in their return.
19:77أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى كَفَرَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَقَالَ لَأُوتَيَنَّ مَالًا وَوَلَدًاHave you seen the one who denies our signs and says, "I will surely be given wealth and children"?
19:78أَطَّلَعَ ٱلْغَيْبَ أَمِ ٱتَّخَذَ عِندَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عَهْدًاHas he glimpsed the unseen, or taken a pledge from the Most Merciful?
19:79كَلَّا ۚ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُولُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ مَدًّاNot at all; we will record what he says and prolong his punishment, drawing it out.
19:80وَنَرِثُهُۥ مَا يَقُولُ وَيَأْتِينَا فَرْدًاAnd we shall inherit from him all that he speaks of, and he will come to us alone.
19:81وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً لِّيَكُونُوا۟ لَهُمْ عِزًّاThey have taken gods besides God, hoping they will be a source of strength for them.
19:82كَلَّا ۚ سَيَكْفُرُونَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ وَيَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدًّاNo — those gods will reject their worship and turn against them as opponents.
19:83أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ تَؤُزُّهُمْ أَزًّاDo you not see that we have sent the devils upon those who deny, inciting them relentlessly?
19:84فَلَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمْ عَدًّاSo do not be impatient with them, for we are only counting out their days, one by one.
19:85يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ إِلَى ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ وَفْدًاOn the day we gather the God-conscious to the Most Merciful as an honored delegation,
19:86وَنَسُوقُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ وِرْدًاand we drive the guilty to jahannam, parched.
19:87لَّا يَمْلِكُونَ ٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَنِ ٱتَّخَذَ عِندَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عَهْدًاNone will hold the power to intercede, except those who have taken a covenant with the Most Merciful.
19:88وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَلَدًاAnd they say, "the Most Merciful has taken a son."
19:89لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْـًٔا إِدًّاYou have brought forth something monstrous.
19:90تَكَادُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنشَقُّ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ ٱلْجِبَالُ هَدًّاAt this the heavens are nearly torn apart, the earth split open, and the mountains brought crashing down —
19:91أَن دَعَوْا۟ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ وَلَدًاthat they ascribe a son to the Most Merciful.
19:92وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ أَن يَتَّخِذَ وَلَدًاIt does not befit the Most Merciful to take a son.
19:93إِن كُلُّ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّآ ءَاتِى ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ عَبْدًاThere is no one in the heavens and the earth who will not come to the Most Merciful as a servant.
19:94لَّقَدْ أَحْصَىٰهُمْ وَعَدَّهُمْ عَدًّاGod has taken account of them and numbered them precisely.
19:95وَكُلُّهُمْ ءَاتِيهِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فَرْدًاand each of them will come to him on the day of resurrection, alone.
19:96إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وُدًّاAs for those who believe and do righteous deeds, the Most Merciful will appoint for them love.
19:97فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَـٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لِتُبَشِّرَ بِهِ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ وَتُنذِرَ بِهِۦ قَوْمًا لُّدًّاAnd so we have made it easy on your tongue, that you may give good news through it to those mindful of God, and warn through it a contentious people.
19:98وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هَلْ تُحِسُّ مِنْهُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ أَوْ تَسْمَعُ لَهُمْ رِكْزًۢاAnd how many generations we have destroyed before them! Do you sense a single one of them now, or hear from them so much as a whisper?
