Kaf Ha Ya ʿAyn Sad.
An account of your Lord's mercy to his servant Zakariyya.
  3. 19:3 إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ نِدَآءً خَفِيًّا when he called out to his Lord, a quiet, hidden call,
He said, "My Lord, my bones have grown weak and my head is alight with grey, yet never, my Lord, has my prayer to you gone unanswered.
And I fear my kinsmen after me, and my wife is barren, so grant me from yourself an heir
  6. 19:6 يَرِثُنِى وَيَرِثُ مِنْ ءَالِ يَعْقُوبَ ۖ وَٱجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيًّا one who will inherit from me and inherit from the house of Yaʿqub — and make him, my Lord, well-pleasing to you.
Zakariya, we bring you good news of a son whose name will be Yahya — a name we have given to no one before him.
He said, "My Lord, how can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached such frailty in old age?"
God said, "So it will be. Your Lord says, 'It is easy for me — I created you before, when you were nothing.'"
He said, "My Lord, give me a sign." God said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to people for three nights, though sound of body."
So he came out from the sanctuary to his people and signaled to them to glorify God morning and evening.
Yahya, hold fast to the Scripture with strength." And we gave him wisdom while he was still a child,
  13. 19:13 وَحَنَانًا مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَزَكَوٰةً ۖ وَكَانَ تَقِيًّا and tenderness from us, and purity — and he was mindful of God,
  14. 19:14 وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُن جَبَّارًا عَصِيًّا and devoted to his parents, never overbearing or defiant.
Peace be upon him the day he was born, the day he dies, and the day he is raised alive.
And mention Maryam in the Book, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east,
  17. 19:17 فَٱتَّخَذَتْ مِن دُونِهِمْ حِجَابًا فَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرًا سَوِيًّا and she screened herself away from them. Then we sent our spirit to her, and he appeared before her as a well-formed man.
She said, "I seek refuge from you in the Most Merciful — if you are mindful of God."
He said, "I am only a messenger from your Lord, sent to grant you a pure son."
She said, "How can I have a son when no man has touched me, and I have never been unchaste?"
He said, "So it will be. Your Lord says: it is easy for me. And we will make him a sign for the people and a mercy from us. It is a matter already decreed."
So she conceived him, and withdrew with him to a distant place.
The pangs of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "If only I had died before this and been forgotten, utterly forgotten."
A voice called to her from below her: "Do not grieve — your Lord has placed a stream beneath you."
And shake the trunk of the palm tree toward you — it will drop fresh, ripe dates upon you.
So eat and drink and be comforted. And if you see anyone at all, say: 'I have vowed a fast to the Most Merciful, so I will not speak to any human today.'
Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "Maryam, you have done something outrageous."
Sister of Harun, your father was not an evil man, nor was your mother unchaste.
She pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak with one who is a child in the cradle?"
He said, "I am a servant of God; he has given me the scripture and made me a prophet."
  31. 19:31 وَجَعَلَنِى مُبَارَكًا أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُ وَأَوْصَـٰنِى بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱلزَّكَوٰةِ مَا دُمْتُ حَيًّا and he has made me blessed wherever I am, and has charged me with prayer and almsgiving as long as I live,
  32. 19:32 وَبَرًّۢا بِوَٰلِدَتِى وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْنِى جَبَّارًا شَقِيًّا and dutiful to my mother, and he has not made me arrogant or wretched.
And peace be upon me the day I was born, the day I die, and the day I am raised alive.
That was Isa, son of Maryam — a statement of the truth about which they remain in dispute.
It is not for God to take a son. Glory be to him! When he decrees a matter, he only says to it, "Be," and it is.
Indeed, God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship him. This is a straight path."
Yet the factions differed among themselves. So woe to those who deny, from the scene of a tremendous day.
How clearly they will hear and see on the day they come to us! But today the wrongdoers are in plain error.
And warn them of the day of regret, when the matter is decided — while they remain heedless and do not believe.
Indeed, we are the ones who inherit the earth and all who are upon it, and to us they are returned.
And mention in the Book Ibrahim. He was truly a man of truth, a prophet.
When he said to his father, "My father, why do you worship what cannot hear and cannot see and cannot help you in any way?
My father, knowledge has come to me that has not come to you, so follow me — I will guide you to a straight path.
My father, do not worship Satan. Indeed, Satan has been defiant toward the Most Merciful.
My father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Merciful will touch you, and you will become an ally of Satan.
He said, "Do you turn away from my gods, Ibrahim? If you do not stop, I will surely stone you. Stay away from me for a long time."
Ibrahim said, "Peace be upon you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you; indeed, he has always been gracious to me.
I will withdraw from you and from what you call upon besides God, and I will call upon my Lord. Perhaps in calling upon my Lord I will not be left unanswered.
So when he withdrew from them and from what they worshipped besides God, we granted him Ishaq and Yaʿqub, and each of them we made a prophet.
And we granted them of our mercy, and gave them a true and lofty renown.
And mention in the Book, Musa. Indeed, he was chosen in sincerity, and he was a messenger, a prophet.
And we called to him from the right side of the mount, and drew him near in intimate communion.
And out of our mercy we granted him his brother Harun as a prophet.
And mention in the Book Isma'il. He was true to his promise, and he was a messenger, a prophet.
He used to instruct his family in prayer and almsgiving, and he was pleasing to his Lord.
And mention in the Book Idris. Indeed, he was a man of truth, a prophet.
And we raised him to a high station.
These are the ones God favored among the prophets — from the descendants of Adam, from those we carried with Nuh, from the descendants of Ibrahim and Isra'il, and from those we guided and chose. When the signs of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell down, prostrating and weeping.
But after them came successors who abandoned prayer and followed their desires — they will meet ruin,
Except those who repent, believe, and do righteous deeds — they will enter the garden and will not be wronged in the least.
Gardens of Eden, which the Most Merciful has promised to his servants in the unseen. That promise will surely come to pass.
There they will hear no idle talk, only peace, and there they will have their provision, morning and evening.
Such is the garden we give as inheritance to those of our servants who were mindful of God.
We descend only by the command of your Lord. To him belongs what is before us, what is behind us, and what lies between. Your Lord is never forgetful.
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them — so worship him, and be steadfast in his worship. Do you know of any who shares his name?
And the human being says, "Once I am dead, will I really be brought forth alive?"
Does the human being not remember that we created him before, when he was nothing?
By your Lord, we will surely gather them along with the devils, then we will bring them to their knees around jahannam.
Then we will drag out from every faction whichever of them was most defiant against the Most Merciful.
Then surely we know best those most deserving to burn in it.
There is not one of you who will not come to it — a decree your Lord has fixed and ordained.
Then we will deliver those who were mindful of God, and leave the wrongdoers there on their knees.
And when our clear signs are recited to them, those who deny say to those who believe, "Which of the two groups holds the better position, and which keeps the finer company?"
And how many generations before them did we destroy, finer in possessions and appearance!
Say: whoever is in error, let the Most Merciful prolong their span — until, when they see what they were promised, whether the punishment or the hour, they will know who is worse in standing and weaker in forces.
And God increases in guidance those who follow guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better in your Lord's sight for reward and better in their return.
Have you seen the one who denies our signs and says, "I will surely be given wealth and children"?
Has he glimpsed the unseen, or taken a pledge from the Most Merciful?
Not at all; we will record what he says and prolong his punishment, drawing it out.
And we shall inherit from him all that he speaks of, and he will come to us alone.
They have taken gods besides God, hoping they will be a source of strength for them.
No — those gods will reject their worship and turn against them as opponents.
Do you not see that we have sent the devils upon those who deny, inciting them relentlessly?
So do not be impatient with them, for we are only counting out their days, one by one.
On the day we gather the God-conscious to the Most Merciful as an honored delegation,
  86. 19:86 وَنَسُوقُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ وِرْدًا and we drive the guilty to jahannam, parched.
None will hold the power to intercede, except those who have taken a covenant with the Most Merciful.
And they say, "the Most Merciful has taken a son."
You have brought forth something monstrous.
At this the heavens are nearly torn apart, the earth split open, and the mountains brought crashing down —
  91. 19:91 أَن دَعَوْا۟ لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ وَلَدًا that they ascribe a son to the Most Merciful.
It does not befit the Most Merciful to take a son.
There is no one in the heavens and the earth who will not come to the Most Merciful as a servant.
God has taken account of them and numbered them precisely.
  95. 19:95 وَكُلُّهُمْ ءَاتِيهِ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فَرْدًا and each of them will come to him on the day of resurrection, alone.
As for those who believe and do righteous deeds, the Most Merciful will appoint for them love.
And so we have made it easy on your tongue, that you may give good news through it to those mindful of God, and warn through it a contentious people.
And how many generations we have destroyed before them! Do you sense a single one of them now, or hear from them so much as a whisper?
