أَسْمِعْ بِهِمْ وَأَبْصِرْ يَوْمَ يَأْتُونَنَا ۖ لَـٰكِنِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ٱلْيَوْمَ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ
Asmi' bihim wa absir Yawma yaatoonanaa laakiniz zaalimoonal yawma fee dalaalim mubeen
How clearly they will hear and see on the day they come to us! But today the wrongdoers are in plain error.
The Arabic opens with a construction of wonder, the form used for exclaiming at how much of something there is, applied to hearing and sight arriving at full strength at the moment they can no longer be acted on. The second half drops the exclamation and returns to the present, so the same people are described twice in one line, at their sharpest and at their most mistaken.
