وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَمَا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَدْعُوا۟ رَبِّى عَسَىٰٓ أَلَّآ أَكُونَ بِدُعَآءِ رَبِّى شَقِيًّا
Wa a'tazilukum wa maa tad'oona min doonil laahi wa ad'o Rabbee 'asaaa allaaa akoona bidu'aaa'i Rabbee shaqiyyaa
I will withdraw from you and from what you call upon besides God, and I will call upon my Lord. Perhaps in calling upon my Lord I will not be left unanswered.
Ibrahim leaves with a greeting of peace and a promise to pray for the man who has just threatened to stone him; the word he uses for his withdrawal, i'tizal, is the root that would later name a whole school of theologians. His hope is stated with real restraint, since shaqiyy means unblessed and he allows that his own calling might go unanswered. The next verse gives him a son and a grandson in place of the family he left.
