69:3وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْحَآقَّةُAnd what will make you grasp what the reality is?
69:4كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ وَعَادٌۢ بِٱلْقَارِعَةِThamud and 'Ad denied the striking calamity.
69:5فَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِٱلطَّاغِيَةِAs for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overwhelming blast.
69:6وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا۟ بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍAs for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious, howling wind,
69:7سَخَّرَهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سَبْعَ لَيَالٍ وَثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَيَّامٍ حُسُومًا فَتَرَى ٱلْقَوْمَ فِيهَا صَرْعَىٰ كَأَنَّهُمْ أَعْجَازُ نَخْلٍ خَاوِيَةٍGod unleashed it against them for seven nights and eight days without pause, so you could have seen the people lying fallen, as if they were the hollow trunks of fallen palms.
69:8فَهَلْ تَرَىٰ لَهُم مِّنۢ بَاقِيَةٍDo you see any trace of them remaining?
69:9وَجَآءَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَن قَبْلَهُۥ وَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَـٰتُ بِٱلْخَاطِئَةِAnd Pharaoh came, and those before him, and the overturned cities — all bearing sin.
69:10فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةًThey disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so he seized them with a crushing grip.
69:11إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَا ٱلْمَآءُ حَمَلْنَـٰكُمْ فِى ٱلْجَارِيَةِIndeed, when the waters overflowed, we carried you in the sailing ship,
69:12لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَآ أُذُنٌ وَٰعِيَةٌso that we might make it a reminder for you, and that attentive ears might hold it.
69:13فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِى ٱلصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌWhen the trumpet is sounded with a single blast,
69:14وَحُمِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَٰحِدَةًand the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow,
69:15فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُon that day, the inevitable will come to pass.
69:16وَٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَهِىَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌAnd the sky will split apart, frail on that day.
69:17وَٱلْمَلَكُ عَلَىٰٓ أَرْجَآئِهَا ۚ وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَـٰنِيَةٌThe angels will stand at its edges, and on that day eight will bear the throne of your Lord above them.
69:18يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَىٰ مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌOn that day you will be brought forth, and nothing hidden in you will stay hidden.
69:19فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ هَآؤُمُ ٱقْرَءُوا۟ كِتَـٰبِيَهْAs for the one given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record!
69:20إِنِّى ظَنَنتُ أَنِّى مُلَـٰقٍ حِسَابِيَهْI was certain I would meet my reckoning.
69:21فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍand so he will be in a life of contentment,
69:23قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌits clusters of fruit within easy reach.
69:24كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَآ أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِى ٱلْأَيَّامِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِEat and drink with delight for what you sent ahead in the days now past.
69:25وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِشِمَالِهِۦ فَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَـٰبِيَهْBut the one given his record in his left hand will say, 'If only I had never been given my record,
69:26وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيَهْand never known what my reckoning would be.
69:27يَـٰلَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ ٱلْقَاضِيَةَIf only death had been the end of me!
69:28مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنِّى مَالِيَهْ ۜMy wealth has been of no use to me,
69:29هَلَكَ عَنِّى سُلْطَـٰنِيَهْmy authority has vanished from me.”
