Surah Al-Infitar — الإنفطار

Chapter 82 of the Qur'an · “The Cleaving” · 19 verses · revealed in Makkah

1. 82:1 إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ When the sky is split open,
2. 82:2 وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ when the stars are scattered,
3. 82:3 وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ and when the seas burst forth,
4. 82:4 وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ and when the graves are turned out,
5. 82:5 عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ every soul will know what it sent ahead and what it left behind.
6. 82:6 يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ O human being, what has deceived you about your Lord, the Most Generous,
7. 82:7 ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ who created you, shaped you, and balanced you,
8. 82:8 فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ assembling you in whatever form he willed?
9. 82:9 كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ No — yet you deny the reckoning.
10. 82:10 وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَـٰفِظِينَ And indeed, over you there are guardians,
11. 82:11 كِرَامًا كَـٰتِبِينَ noble, recording,
12. 82:12 يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ who know what you do.
13. 82:13 إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ Indeed, the righteous will be in bliss,
14. 82:14 وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ and the wicked will be in jahim.
15. 82:15 يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ they will burn in it on the day of reckoning,
16. 82:16 وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ and from it they will not be absent.
17. 82:17 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ And what will make you understand what the day of reckoning is?
18. 82:18 ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ Again, what can convey to you what the day of reckoning is?
19. 82:19 يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ A day when no soul will have power to do anything for another; on that day, the command belongs to God.
