Surah Al-Mursalat — المرسلات

Chapter 77 of the Qur'an · “The Emissaries” · 50 verses · revealed in Makkah

1. 77:1 وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا By those sent forth in succession,
2. 77:2 فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا and the winds that rage in fury,
3. 77:3 وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا and by those that scatter far and wide,
4. 77:4 فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا and those that separate distinctly,
5. 77:5 فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا and those who deliver a reminder,
6. 77:6 عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا as excuse or as warning,
7. 77:7 إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ what you are promised will surely come to pass.
8. 77:8 فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ When the stars are extinguished,
9. 77:9 وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ and when the sky is split open,
10. 77:10 وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ and when the mountains are scattered to dust,
11. 77:11 وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ and when the messengers are summoned at their appointed time —
12. 77:12 لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ For what day has all this been set?
13. 77:13 لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ for the day of decision.
14. 77:14 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ And what will make you understand what the day of decision is?
15. 77:15 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
16. 77:16 أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Did we not destroy the earlier peoples?
17. 77:17 ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ Then we made the later ones follow them.
18. 77:18 كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ This is how we deal with the guilty.
19. 77:19 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
20. 77:20 أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ Did we not create you from a lowly fluid?
21. 77:21 فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ which we placed in a secure resting place,
22. 77:22 إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ for a known term?
23. 77:23 فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ And we measured it out — how excellent are we in measuring.
24. 77:24 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
25. 77:25 أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا Did we not make the earth a place that gathers
26. 77:26 أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا for the living and the dead?
27. 77:27 وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا And we set upon it towering mountains and gave you sweet water to drink.
28. 77:28 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
29. 77:29 ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ Go on to what you used to deny.
30. 77:30 ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ Move on to a shadow with three branches,
31. 77:31 لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ giving no shade and no relief from the flame,
32. 77:32 إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ it throws up sparks as large as a fortress,
33. 77:33 كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ as if they were yellow camels.
34. 77:34 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
35. 77:35 هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ This is a day on which they will not speak,
36. 77:36 وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ nor will they be given leave to offer excuses.
37. 77:37 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
38. 77:38 هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ This is the day of decision — we have gathered you together with those who came before.
39. 77:39 فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ So if you have any scheme, then scheme against me.
40. 77:40 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
41. 77:41 إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ Indeed, those who are mindful of God will be among shades and springs,
42. 77:42 وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ and fruits of whatever they desire,
43. 77:43 كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Eat and drink with delight, for what you used to do.
44. 77:44 إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ Indeed, this is how we reward those who do good.
45. 77:45 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
46. 77:46 كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ Eat and enjoy yourselves a little — you are guilty.
47. 77:47 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
48. 77:48 وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ And when they are told, "Bow down," they do not bow.
49. 77:49 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that day, to those who deny the truth!
50. 77:50 فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ Then in what message after this will they believe?
