Surah Ar-Rahman — الرحمن

Chapter 55 of the Qur'an · “The Beneficent” · 78 verses · revealed in Madinah

1. 55:1 ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ The Most Merciful
2. 55:2 عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ taught the Qur'an,
3. 55:3 خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ created the human being,
4. 55:4 عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ and taught him clear speech.
5. 55:5 ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ The sun and the moon move by precise reckoning.
6. 55:6 وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ and the stars and the trees prostrate.
7. 55:7 وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ And the sky — he raised it, and set the balance,
8. 55:8 أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ so that you do not transgress the balance.
9. 55:9 وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ Weigh with justice, and do not fall short in the balance.
10. 55:10 وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ And the earth — he laid it out for all living beings,
11. 55:11 فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ in it is fruit, and palm trees with sheathed clusters,
12. 55:12 وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ and grain in its husks, and fragrant herbs.
13. 55:13 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
14. 55:14 خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ He created the human being from clay like pottery,
15. 55:15 وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ And the jinn he created from a smokeless flame of fire.
16. 55:16 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
17. 55:17 رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests.
18. 55:18 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
19. 55:19 مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ He released the two seas, meeting together.
20. 55:20 بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ between them is a barrier they do not overstep.
21. 55:21 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
22. 55:22 يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ From both of them emerge pearls and coral.
23. 55:23 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
24. 55:24 وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ And to him belong the ships that sail the sea, towering like mountains.
25. 55:25 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
26. 55:26 كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ All who are upon it will perish,
27. 55:27 وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ And the face of your Lord will remain, full of majesty and honor.
28. 55:28 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
29. 55:29 يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ All who are in the heavens and the earth turn to him in need; every day he is at work.
30. 55:30 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
31. 55:31 سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ Soon we will turn to you, O you two weighty ones.
32. 55:32 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
33. 55:33 يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ O company of jinn and humankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by an authority granted.
34. 55:34 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
35. 55:35 يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ A flame of fire and molten brass will be sent against you both, and you will not defend yourselves.
36. 55:36 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
37. 55:37 فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ When the sky is split open and turns red like burnished leather —
38. 55:38 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
39. 55:39 فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ On that day, no human or jinn will be questioned about their sin.
40. 55:40 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
41. 55:41 يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ The guilty will be known by their marks, and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet.
42. 55:42 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
43. 55:43 هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ This is jahannam, which the guilty deny.
44. 55:44 يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ They will circle between it and scalding, boiling water.
45. 55:45 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
46. 55:46 وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ And for the one who fears standing before his Lord, there are two gardens —
47. 55:47 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
48. 55:48 ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ with spreading branches.
49. 55:49 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
50. 55:50 فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ In them are two flowing springs.
51. 55:51 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
52. 55:52 فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ In both are fruits of every kind, in pairs.
53. 55:53 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
54. 55:54 مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ Reclining on couches lined with rich brocade, with the fruit of both gardens within easy reach.
55. 55:55 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
56. 55:56 فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ In them are companions of modest gaze, whom no human or jinn has ever touched before them.
57. 55:57 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
58. 55:58 كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ As if they were rubies and coral.
59. 55:59 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
60. 55:60 هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ Is the reward for goodness anything but goodness?
61. 55:61 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
62. 55:62 وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ And beside these two are two more gardens.
63. 55:63 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
64. 55:64 مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ Both of deepest green.
65. 55:65 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
66. 55:66 فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ In both are two springs, gushing forth.
67. 55:67 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
68. 55:68 فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ In both are fruits, date palms, and pomegranates.
69. 55:69 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
70. 55:70 فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌ In them are companions, good and beautiful.
71. 55:71 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
72. 55:72 حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ Pure companions, secluded in pavilions —
73. 55:73 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
74. 55:74 لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ Untouched before them by human or jinn.
75. 55:75 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
76. 55:76 مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ Reclining on green cushions and fine, beautiful carpets.
77. 55:77 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ So which of your Lord's blessings will the two of you deny?
78. 55:78 تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ Blessed is the name of your Lord, possessor of majesty and honor.
