Surah Al-Mursalat — المرسلات

Chapter 77 of the Qur'an · “The Emissaries” · 50 verses · revealed in Makkah

1. 77:1 وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا By the [winds] sent forth in swift succession,
2. 77:2 فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا violently storming,
3. 77:3 وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا scattering far and wide,
4. 77:4 فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا separating forcefully,
5. 77:5 فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا delivering a reminder,
6. 77:6 عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا as a proof or a warning:
7. 77:7 إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ what you are promised will come to pass.
8. 77:8 فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ When the stars are dimmed
9. 77:9 وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ and the sky is torn apart,
10. 77:10 وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ when the mountains are turned to dust
11. 77:11 وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ and the messengers given their appointed time––
12. 77:12 لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ for what Day has all this been set?
13. 77:13 لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ The Day of Decision.
14. 77:14 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ What will explain to you what the Day of Decision is?
15. 77:15 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
16. 77:16 أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ Did We not destroy the first [of them]?
17. 77:17 ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ We shall make the last follow them:
18. 77:18 كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ this is how We deal with the guilty.
19. 77:19 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
20. 77:20 أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ Did We not make you from an underrated fluid
21. 77:21 فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ which We housed in a safe lodging
22. 77:22 إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ for a determined period?
23. 77:23 فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ We determine [it]: how excellently We determine!
24. 77:24 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
25. 77:25 أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا Did We not make the earth a home
26. 77:26 أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا for the living and the dead?
27. 77:27 وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا Did We not place firm, lofty mountains on it and provide you with sweet water?
28. 77:28 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
29. 77:29 ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ They will be told, ‘Go to that which you used to deny!
30. 77:30 ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ Go to a shadow of smoke!’ It rises in three columns;
31. 77:31 لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ no shade does it give, nor relief from the flame;
32. 77:32 إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ it shoots out sparks as large as treetrunks
33. 77:33 كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ and as bright as copper.
34. 77:34 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
35. 77:35 هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ On that Day they will be speechless,
36. 77:36 وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ and they will be given no chance to offer any excuses.
37. 77:37 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
38. 77:38 هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ [They will be told], ‘This is the Day of Decision: We have gathered you and earlier generations.
39. 77:39 فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ If you have any plots against Me, try them now.’
40. 77:40 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
41. 77:41 إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ But those who took heed of God will enjoy cool shade, springs,
42. 77:42 وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ and any fruit they desire;
43. 77:43 كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ [they will be told], ‘Eat and drink to your hearts’ content as a reward for your deeds:
44. 77:44 إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ this is how We reward those who do good.’
45. 77:45 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
46. 77:46 كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ [You may] eat and enjoy yourselves for a short while, evildoers that you are.
47. 77:47 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
48. 77:48 وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ When they are told, ‘Bow down in prayer,’ they do not do so.
49. 77:49 وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ Woe, on that Day, to those who denied the truth!
50. 77:50 فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ In what revelation, after this, will they believe?
