Surah Ar-Rahman — الرحمن

Chapter 55 of the Qur'an · “The Beneficent” · 78 verses · revealed in Madinah

  1. 55:1 ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ It is the Lord of Mercy
  2. 55:2 عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ who taught the Quran.
  3. 55:3 خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ He created man
  4. 55:4 عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ and taught him to communicate.
  5. 55:5 ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ The sun and the moon follow their calculated courses;
  6. 55:6 وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ the plants and the trees submit to His designs;
  7. 55:7 وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ He has raised up the sky. He has set the balance
  8. 55:8 أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ so that you may not exceed in the balance:
  9. 55:9 وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ weigh with justice and do not fall short in the balance.
  10. 55:10 وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ He set down the Earth for His creatures,
  11. 55:11 فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ with its fruits, its palm trees with sheathed clusters,
  12. 55:12 وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ its husked grain, its fragrant plants.
  13. 55:13 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  14. 55:14 خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ He created mankind out of dried clay, like pottery,
  15. 55:15 وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ the jinn out of smokeless fire.
  16. 55:16 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  17. 55:17 رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ He is Lord of the two risings and Lord of the two settings.
  18. 55:18 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  19. 55:19 مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ He released the two bodies of [fresh and salt] water. They meet,
  20. 55:20 بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ yet there is a barrier between them they do not cross.
  21. 55:21 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  22. 55:22 يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ Pearls come forth from them: large ones, and small, brilliant ones.
  23. 55:23 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  24. 55:24 وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ His are the moving ships that float, high as mountains, on the sea.
  25. 55:25 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  26. 55:26 كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ Everyone on earth perishes;
  27. 55:27 وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ all that remains is the Face of your Lord, full of majesty, bestowing honour.
  28. 55:28 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  29. 55:29 يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ Everyone in heaven and earth entreats Him; every day He is at work.
  30. 55:30 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  31. 55:31 سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ We shall attend to you two huge armies [of jinn and mankind].
  32. 55:32 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  33. 55:33 يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ Jinn and mankind, if you can pass beyond the regions of heaven and earth, then do so: you will not pass without Our authority.
  34. 55:34 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  35. 55:35 يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ A flash of fire and smoke will be released upon you and no one will come to your aid.
  36. 55:36 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  37. 55:37 فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ When the sky is torn apart and turns crimson, like red hide.
  38. 55:38 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  39. 55:39 فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ On that Day neither mankind nor jinn will be asked about their sins.
  40. 55:40 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  41. 55:41 يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ The guilty will be known by their mark and will be seized by their foreheads and their feet.
  42. 55:42 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  43. 55:43 هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ This is the Hell the guilty deny,
  44. 55:44 يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ but they will go round between its flames and scalding water.
  45. 55:45 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  46. 55:46 وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ For those who fear [the time when they will] stand before their Lord there are two gardens.
  47. 55:47 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  48. 55:48 ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ With shading branches.
  49. 55:49 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  50. 55:50 فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ With a pair of flowing springs.
  51. 55:51 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  52. 55:52 فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ With every kind of fruit in pairs.
  53. 55:53 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  54. 55:54 مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ They will sit on couches upholstered with brocade, the fruit of both gardens within easy reach.
  55. 55:55 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  56. 55:56 فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ There will be maidens restraining their glances, untouched beforehand by man or jinn.
  57. 55:57 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  58. 55:58 كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ Like rubies and brilliant pearls.
  59. 55:59 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  60. 55:60 هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ Shall the reward of good be anything but good?
  61. 55:61 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  62. 55:62 وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ There are two other gardens below these two.
  63. 55:63 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  64. 55:64 مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ Both of deepest green.
  65. 55:65 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  66. 55:66 فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ With a pair of gushing springs.
  67. 55:67 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  68. 55:68 فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ With fruits- date palms and pomegranate trees.
  69. 55:69 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  70. 55:70 فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌ There are good-natured, beautiful maidens.
  71. 55:71 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  72. 55:72 حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ Dark-eyed, sheltered in pavilions.
  73. 55:73 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  74. 55:74 لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ Untouched beforehand by man or jinn.
  75. 55:75 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  76. 55:76 مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ They will all sit on green cushions and fine carpets.
  77. 55:77 فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?
  78. 55:78 تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ Blessed is the name of your Lord, full of majesty, bestowing honour.
