Can I make dua about someone who hurt me?
Yes, and you can bring the whole of it to Him; the hurt you carry is real, and God is near to it. Islam offers no dua to harm a person: after Ta’if, offered the destruction of the town, the Prophet ﷺ refused and said, “I hope that God will bring from their descendants people who worship God alone” (Bukhārī 3231). The Qur’an honors those “who restrain their anger and pardon people — and God loves those who do good” [Qur’an 3:134] and promises, “Repel evil with what is better, and the one between you and whom there was enmity will become like a devoted friend” [Qur’an 41:34]. Pray for your own heart too; that wound deserves God’s care as much as anything else you bring Him.

How to
- Tell God plainly what happened and how it hurt; honesty before Him is itself worship.
- Seek shelter in the Prophet’s ﷺ dua: “O Allah, I seek refuge in you from worry and grief” (Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazan) (Bukhārī 6369).
- When you feel able, ask God to guide the person and to mend what lies between you.
- If pardon feels far away, ask first for help restraining anger (Qur’an 3:134); forgiveness can ripen slowly.
- Return to this dua whenever the hurt returns; healing is allowed to take time.
