أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ
Alam yaku nutfatam mim maniyyiny yumnaa
کیا وہ منی کا جو رحم میں ڈالی جاتی ہے ایک قطرہ نہ تھا؟
Was he not a drop of emitted semen,
Maniyy and yumnā are built from the same root, so the fluid and its emission are named in a single sound, and the question rests on the plainest beginning a person has. The one who doubted at verse three that scattered bones could be gathered is shown a start with no bone in it anywhere. The next two lines carry the drop through clot and shaping to male and female, and only then does the final question arrive.
