Surah An-Nisa — 4:26

Yureedul laahu liyubai yina lakum wa yahdiyakum sunanal lazeena min qablikum wa yatooba 'alaikum; wallaahu 'Aleemun Hakeem

Allah size açıklamak ve sizden öncekilerin yollarını göstermek ve tevbenizi kabul etmek ister. Allah Bilen'dir, Hakim'dir.

God wills to make things clear to you, to guide you along the paths of those who came before you, and to turn to you in mercy. God is all-knowing, all-wise.

Reflection

Legislation has just been delivered at length, and this verse says what it was for. Sunan are the beaten tracks of those who went before, which sets the new rules on an old road instead of announcing them as novelty. Three verses running turn on the verb of willing, repeated until two wills stand plainly opposite one another: what God wants for a person, and what appetite wants for them.
