وَمَن لَّمْ يَسْتَطِعْ مِنكُمْ طَوْلًا أَن يَنكِحَ ٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ فَمِن مَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُكُم مِّن فَتَيَـٰتِكُمُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِإِيمَـٰنِكُم ۚ بَعْضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٍ ۚ فَٱنكِحُوهُنَّ بِإِذْنِ أَهْلِهِنَّ وَءَاتُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ مُحْصَنَـٰتٍ غَيْرَ مُسَـٰفِحَـٰتٍ وَلَا مُتَّخِذَٰتِ أَخْدَانٍ ۚ فَإِذَآ أُحْصِنَّ فَإِنْ أَتَيْنَ بِفَـٰحِشَةٍ فَعَلَيْهِنَّ نِصْفُ مَا عَلَى ٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتِ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ ٱلْعَنَتَ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَأَن تَصْبِرُوا۟ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Wa mal lam yastati' minkum tawlan ai yankihal muhsanaatil mu'minaati famimmaa malakat aimaanukum min fatayaatikumul mu'minaat; wallaahu a'lamu bi eemaanikum; ba'dukum mim ba'd; fankihoohunna bi izni ahlihinna wa aatoohunna ujoorahunna bilma'roofi muhsanaatin ghaira musaa fihaatinw wa laa muttakhizaati akhdaan; fa izaaa uhsinna fa in ataina bifaahi shatin fa'alaihinnna nisfu maa 'alal muhsanaati minal 'azaab; zaalika liman khashiyal 'anata minkum; wa an tasbiroo khairul lakum; wallaahu Ghafoorur Raheem
Sizden, hür mümin kadınlarla evlenmeye güç yetiremiyen kimse, ellerinizdeki mümin cariyelerinizden alsın. Allah sizin imanınızı çok iyi bilir. Birbirinizdensiniz, aynı soydansınız. Onlarla, zinadan kaçınmaları, iffetli olmaları ve gizli dost tutmamış olmaları halinde, velilerinin izniyle evlenin ve örfe uygun bir şekilde mehirlerini verin. Evlendiklerinde zina edecek olurlarsa, onlara, hür kadınlara edilen azabın yarısı edilir. Cariye ile evlenmedeki bu izin içinizden, günaha girme korkusu olanlaradır. Sabretmeniz sizin için daha hayırlıdır. Allah bağışlar ve merhamet eder.
And whoever among you cannot afford to marry free, believing women may marry from the believing young women whom your right hands rightfully hold. God knows best your faith; you are of one another. So marry them with the permission of their people and give them their due bridal gifts in kindness — chaste women, not given to fornication, nor taking secret lovers. Once they are in the shelter of marriage, if they commit a grave indecency, their penalty is half of what is prescribed for free women. This is for those among you who fear hardship, but to be patient is better for you. And God is forgiving and merciful.
The verse levels while it distinguishes. In the middle of separating two legal categories it states that these people belong to one another, routes the bridal gift to the woman herself, and requires consent through her own family. Jurists have differed over the scope of almost every clause in it, and the passage closes by preferring patience over the permission it has just granted.
