فَسَجَدَ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
Fasajadal malaaa'ikatu kulluhum ajma'oon
Bunun üzerine, İblis'in dışında bütün melekler hemen secde ettiler. O, secde edenlerle beraber olmaktan çekindi.
So the angels prostrated, all of them together,
Two words do the same work here, kulluhum and ajmaʿūn, both meaning the whole of them, stacked where one would have carried the sense. Grammarians call this corroboration, and the pair recurs at 38:73 and nowhere besides, in a telling of the same scene. The totality is stated that firmly because a single exception is about to be named against it.
