وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ
Wujoohuny yawma 'izin naadirah

On that day, faces will be radiant,
Nāḍira comes from naḍāra, the freshness of a plant in full sap, so what is described is a face carrying the bloom of living things. The word closing the next verse, nāẓira, differs from it by one letter and means looking, which sets bloom and gaze beside each other as nearly the same sound. Everything this passage says about the two groups it says through what shows on their faces.
