كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ
Kallaa bal tuhibboonal 'aajilah
Tymczasem nie! Przeciwnie! Wy kochacie przemijające,
No — you love what passes quickly,
The two words set side by side here are both about timing: one names what arrives quickly, the other what comes last, so what the verse describes is impatience as much as appetite. The address turns at this point too. The preceding verses spoke to the Prophet about how the recitation reaches him, and the surah now faces everyone listening, which is why the tone shifts so abruptly.
