Surah Al-Infitar — الإنفطار

Chapter 82 of the Qur'an · “The Cleaving” · 19 verses · revealed in Makkah

1. 82:1 إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنفَطَرَتْ When the sky is torn apart,
2. 82:2 وَإِذَا ٱلْكَوَاكِبُ ٱنتَثَرَتْ when the stars are scattered,
3. 82:3 وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ when the seas burst forth,
4. 82:4 وَإِذَا ٱلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ when graves turn inside out:
5. 82:5 عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ each soul will know what it has done and what it has left undone.
6. 82:6 يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ Mankind, what has lured you away from God,
7. 82:7 ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّىٰكَ فَعَدَلَكَ your generous Lord, who created you, shaped you, proportioned you,
8. 82:8 فِىٓ أَىِّ صُورَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ in whatever form He chose?
9. 82:9 كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِٱلدِّينِ Yet you still take the Judgement to be a lie!
10. 82:10 وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَـٰفِظِينَ Over you stand
11. 82:11 كِرَامًا كَـٰتِبِينَ watchers, noble recorders
12. 82:12 يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ who know what you do:
13. 82:13 إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ the good will live in bliss,
14. 82:14 وَإِنَّ ٱلْفُجَّارَ لَفِى جَحِيمٍ and the wicked will burn in the Fire.
15. 82:15 يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ They will enter it on the Day of Judgement
16. 82:16 وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ and they will find no escape.
17. 82:17 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is?
18. 82:18 ثُمَّ مَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ Yes! What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is?
19. 82:19 يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَٱلْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ The Day when no soul will be able to do anything for another; on that Day, command will belong to God.
