Surah Al-Qiyamah — 75:1

Reflection

Grammarians have argued over the small particle that opens this surah for as long as anyone has commented on it: some take it as emphasis that strengthens the oath, others as a real negation, meaning the matter is too plain to swear over at all. Either way, the second oath sets the day of resurrection beside the conscience that reproaches a person now, and the surah treats those two as one subject.
