وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad
Dan tidak ada sesuatu yang setara dengan Dia.
And there is none comparable to him.
Kufuw means an equal or a match, and Arabic uses it for suitability in marriage, so the word carries the sense of something that could stand alongside. The surah closes by removing that possibility rather than by adding a further attribute, which leaves the description complete at four lines. Reports about its weight in the tradition all rest on this compression.
