Surah Al-Qari'ah — القارعة

Chapter 101 of the Qur'an · “The Calamity” · 11 verses · revealed in Makkah

1. 101:1 ٱلْقَارِعَةُ The Crashing Blow!
2. 101:2 مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ What is the Crashing Blow?
3. 101:3 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ What will explain to you what the Crashing Blow is?
4. 101:4 يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ On a Day when people will be like scattered moths
5. 101:5 وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ and the mountains like tufts of wool,
6. 101:6 فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ the one whose good deeds are heavy on the scales
7. 101:7 فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ will have a pleasant life,
8. 101:8 وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ but the one whose good deeds are light
9. 101:9 فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌ will have the Bottomless Pit for his home––
10. 101:10 وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ what will explain to you what that is?––
11. 101:11 نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ a blazing fire.
