What dua is said at the moment of death?
There are gentle things to do in that room. The Prophet ﷺ taught, “Prompt your dying ones to say: la ilaha illallah” (Muslim 916); say it softly nearby, once, and let them come to it as they are able. The Qur’an greets the departing soul with tenderness: “O soul at peace, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing” [Qur’an 89:27-28]. Your presence is itself worship: sit close, hold their hand, speak in a low voice, and make dua; God is nearer to them than anyone in the room.
