إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًا
Inna yaumal-fasli kana miqaata
بےشک فیصلہ کا دن مقرر ہے
Indeed, the day of decision is an appointed time —
Miqat is an appointment word, the one Arabic uses for the fixed times of pilgrimage and for the meeting Musa kept at the mountain, so a term from the calendar is applied to the end of everything. Fasl names a decision reached by separating one thing from another, which suits a day whose whole work is sorting. Arabic sets the verb in the past, so the appointment reads as one already entered rather than still to be made.
