وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا
Waja'alna siraajaw wah haaja
اور (آفتاب کا) روشن چراغ بنایا
and we made a blazing lamp,
Every item in this list arrives under a borrowed name: the earth a cradle, sleep a rest, night a garment, and the sun a household oil lamp, so the cosmos is introduced entirely through things found indoors. Wahhāj is an intensive form from a root for blazing, and it carries heat as much as light. The whole sequence is a single question, opened in verse 6 and left hanging until verse 16.
