Fa'asaa Fir'awnur Rasoola fa akhaznaahu akhzanw wabeelaa
But Pharaoh defied the Messenger, so we seized him with a devastating grip.
Surah al-Muzzammil gives its whole history lesson in one sentence, placed directly after the parallel it depends on: a messenger was sent to Pharaoh as a messenger has now been sent here. That is why the verse says the Messenger with the definite article and names no one — the identification was made a line earlier. Wabīl is said of heavy rain and rank pasture, the kind that sickens what feeds on it.
