Surah Al-A'raf — 7:200

Wa immaa yanzaghannaka minash Shaitaani nazghun fasta'iz billaah; innahoo Samee'un Aleem

And if a prompting from Satan stirs you, seek refuge with God. Indeed, he is all-hearing, all-knowing.

Reflection

Nazgh names a sudden goad. Four verses use it: two of discord driven between people, between Yusuf and his brothers and among believers who should be speaking kindly, and two of the same jab turned inward on one person, here and in a near-identical line later. What is prescribed against it is refuge, and the two names closing the verse split the work, hearing for the words said aloud, knowing for what was never spoken.
