Surah Al-Ma'idah — 5:56

Wa mai yatawallal laaha wa Rasoolahoo wallazeena aamanoo fa inna hizbal laahi humul ghaaliboon

Whoever takes God, his Messenger, and those who believe as allies — indeed, the party of God will be the victorious.

Reflection

The phrase ḥizb Allāh, the party of God, occurs in only one other place, 58:22, and three verses before that the same noun labels the opposing side — which makes ḥizb a term for alignment rather than a title of honour. This verse closes a short sequence on allegiance by drawing out its consequence, and ghālibūn is a participle: the outcome is given as a standing condition.
