Surah Al-Ma'idah — 5:15

yaaa Ahlal kitaabi qad jaaa'akum Rasoolunaa yubaiyinu lakum kaseeram mimmmaa kuntum tukhfoona minal Kitaabi wa ya'foo 'an kaseer; qad jaaa'akum minal laahi noorunw wa Kitaabum Mubeen

People of the Book, our Messenger has come to you, making clear to you much of what you used to hide of the Scripture, and overlooking much. A light has come to you from God, and a clear Book,

Reflection

Two verbs share the work in this verse, and they pull opposite ways: the Messenger discloses much of what had been kept back, and passes over much of the rest without naming it. Restraint is written into the errand itself. The same verb for that passing over was given to the Prophet as an instruction two verses earlier, about these very people, so what he does with their scripture matches what he was told to do with them.
