Surah Fussilat — 41:53

Sanureehim Aayaatinaa fil aafaaqi wa feee anfusihim hattaa yatabaiyana lahum annahul haqq; awa lam yakfi bi Rabbika annahoo 'alaa kulli shai-in Shaheed

We will show them our signs on the horizons and within themselves, until it becomes clear to them that this is the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is witness over all things?

Reflection

Two directions are promised together, the horizons and the selves, and the plural afaq stands at this verse alone; its singular is kept for the two places where a figure is seen at the edge of the sky. Commentators have read the promised showing as the spread of the message across lands, and as evidence lying in the world and the body, and both readings have held. The closing question then rests the matter on God's own witnessing.
