Surah Ghafir — 40:43

لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّمَا تَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَيْهِ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَعْوَةٌ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَلَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ مَرَدَّنَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ هُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ

Laa jarama annamaa tad'oonanee ilaihi laisa lahoo da'watun fid dunyaa wa laa fil Aakhirati wa anna maraddanaaa ilal laahi wa annal musrifeenahum Ashaabun Naar

سچ تو یہ ہے کہ جس چیز کی طرف تم مجھے بلاتے ہو اس کو دنیا اور آخرت میں بلانے (یعنی دعا قبول کرنے) کا مقدور نہیں اور ہم کو خدا کی طرف لوٹنا ہے اور حد سے نکل جانے والے دوزخی ہیں

Without doubt, what you call me to has no claim worth answering in this world or the next; our return is to God, and those who exceed all bounds will be the companions of the fire.

Reflection

Calling supplies the whole vocabulary of this argument across three verses: he calls them, they call him, and the thing they call him toward is then tested by that same word and found to have none of it. La jarama opens the sentence, an idiom appearing five times, each time to introduce a conclusion the speaker treats as closed. He is a man of Pharaoh's own household, and his name is never given.
