When you have completed the prayer, remember God — standing, sitting, and lying on your sides. And when you are secure, establish the prayer in full. Indeed, the prayer is prescribed for the believers at appointed times.
Remembrance is given three postures, standing, sitting and lying down, which between them cover every position a body can hold, including those of a wounded person or one on the march. So something keeps running while the prayer itself is being shortened in the verses just above. The closing word for its appointed hours, mawqut, occurs nowhere else, and it holds the concession to a schedule that resumes.
