لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
Lalabisa fee batniheee ilaa Yawmi yub'asoon
تو اس روز تک کہ لوگ دوبارہ زندہ کئے جائیں گے اسی کے پیٹ میں رہتے
he would have remained in its belly until the day they are raised.
The whole outcome turns on the condition stated one line before, and commentators divide over which glorifying is meant. One reading takes it as the prayer Yunus made inside the fish, recorded elsewhere in the book; another takes it as the habit of a lifetime, held long before he boarded, so that the emergency drew on an account already open. Either way the release rests on something he brought with him.
