Surah Al-Furqan — 25:71

Wa man taaba wa 'amila saalihan fa innnahoo yatoobu ilal laahi mataabaa

Whoever repents and does good — truly turns to God in sincere repentance.

Reflection

The promise just before this is an unusual one, that God exchanges a person's bad deeds for good, and this line sets its terms by counting repentance together with what someone then does. The Arabic doubles the root t-w-b and lands on mataban, a turning-place, which gives repentance a location, somewhere a person arrives at. Commentators differ over whether that exchange reaches deeds already committed or only what comes after.
