Surah Taha — 20:45

Qaalaa Rabbanaaa innanaa nakhaafu ai yafruta 'alainaaa aw ai yatghaa

They said, "Our Lord, we fear he will lash out against us or overstep all bounds."

Reflection

They answer the assignment by naming their fear aloud, addressed to God as a request rather than kept between themselves. Yaṭghā is the same verb used two verses earlier of Pharaoh, so the description they were handed returns as the thing they are afraid of. The reply they receive answers speech and action separately, hearing and sight, which are the two things a person sent on that errand would dread.
