۞ وَتَرَى ٱلشَّمْسَ إِذَا طَلَعَت تَّزَٰوَرُ عَن كَهْفِهِمْ ذَاتَ ٱلْيَمِينِ وَإِذَا غَرَبَت تَّقْرِضُهُمْ ذَاتَ ٱلشِّمَالِ وَهُمْ فِى فَجْوَةٍ مِّنْهُ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ مَن يَهْدِ ٱللَّهُ فَهُوَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِ ۖ وَمَن يُضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ وَلِيًّا مُّرْشِدًا
Wa tarash shamsa izaa tala'at tazaawaru 'an kahfihim zaatal yameeni wa izaa gharabat taqriduhum zaatash shimaali wa hum fee fajwatim minh; zaalika min Aayaatillaah; mai yahdil laahu fahuwal muhtad, wa mai yudlil falan tajida lahoo waliyyam murshidaa
اور جب سورج نکلے تو تم دیکھو کہ (دھوپ) ان کے غار سے داہنی طرف سمٹ جائے اور جب غروب ہو تو ان سے بائیں طرف کترا جائے اور وہ اس کے میدان میں تھے۔ یہ خدا کی نشانیوں میں سے ہیں۔ جس کو خدا ہدایت دے یا وہ ہدایت یاب ہے اور جس کو گمراہ کرے تو تم اس کے لئے کوئی دوست راہ بتانے والا نہ پاؤ گے
And you would have seen the sun, when it rose, leaning away from their cave to the right, and when it set, passing them by on the left, while they lay in an open space within. That is among the signs of God. Whomever God guides is rightly guided, and whomever he leaves to stray — you will find for him no guiding protector.
A witness is placed at the mouth of the cave who was never there: the verse opens with what you would have seen, and the line after sets the reader in that position twice more, taking them for waking men and then turning to flee. The orientation of the opening is given as exactly as a surveyor would give it, and the sentence then hands guidance itself wholly over to God.
