فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلْـَٔايَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
Fa araahul-aayatal kubra.

So Musa showed him the greatest sign,
Commentators divided over which sign is meant: the staff, the hand drawn out white, or both taken together as one demonstration. The sequence is worth following closely, since the invitation just before it was put as a question offering Pharaoh a choice, and the parallel telling in Ta Ha has Musa told to use gentle speech with him. The sign arrives after the courtesy, and the refusal comes after the sign.
