Surah Al-A'raf — 7:158

Qul yaaa aiyuhan naasu innee Rasoohul laahi ilaikum jamee'anil lazee lahoo mulkus samaawaati wal ardi laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa yuhyee wa yumeetu fa aaminoo billaahi wa Rasoolihin Nabiyyil ummiy yil lazee yu'minu billaahi wa Kalimaatihee wattabi'oohu la'allakum tahtadoon

Say: People, I am the Messenger of God to you all — the messenger of the One to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no god but he; he gives life and he gives death. So believe in God and his Messenger, the unlettered Prophet who believes in God and his words, and follow him, so that you may be guided.

Reflection

Surah al-Aʿrāf turns outward at this point. The verses before it describe a prophet recognized within one scriptural community; the address now opens to all people at once, with jamīʿan making the scope explicit. The description attached to him repays attention: he is named as one who himself believes in God and his words, standing under the revelation he carries.
