أَجَعَلَ ٱلْـَٔالِهَةَ إِلَـٰهًا وَٰحِدًا ۖ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَشَىْءٌ عُجَابٌ
Aja'alal aalihata Ilaahanw Waahidan inna haazaa lashai'un 'ujaab
Aralarından bir uyarıcının gelmesine şaşmışlardı. İnkarcılar: "Bu, pek yalancı bir sihirbazdır; tanrıları tek bir tanrı mı yaptı? Doğrusu bu tuhaf bir şeydir" demişlerdi.
Has he made all the gods into one God? This is truly an astonishing thing.
Their objection amounts to surprise. The verse before reports them marvelling that a warner rose from among their own number, and the verdict they pass on his message takes that root up again in an intensified form, ujab, which occurs only here. Against one God they can offer that the arithmetic astonishes them, and their complaint is left standing just as they made it.
