Surah Al-Anbya — 21:102

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ حَسِيسَهَا ۖ وَهُمْ فِى مَا ٱشْتَهَتْ أَنفُسُهُمْ خَـٰلِدُونَ

Laa yasma'oona hasee sahaa wa hum fee mash tahat anfusuhum khaalidoon

Cehennemin uğultusunu duymazlar. Canlarının istediği şeyler içinde temelli kalırlar.

They will not hear its faintest sound, and they will dwell forever in what their souls desire.

Reflection

Ishtahat is an appetite word, and its noun shahwa names elsewhere the cravings that pull a person off course. The garden is described with that same term, so what was suspect becomes what is supplied. Its past-tense form has been taken either as desires already formed in this life or as whatever they come to want there.
