وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلرُّوحِ ۖ قُلِ ٱلرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّى وَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Wa yas'aloonaka 'anirrooh; qulir roohu min amri rabbee wa maaa ooteetum minal 'ilmi illaa qaleelaa
Sana ruhun ne olduğunu soruyorlar, de ki: "Ruh, Rabbimin emrinden ibarettir. Bu hususta size pek az bilgi verilmiştir."
They ask you about the spirit. Say, "The spirit is from the command of my Lord, and you have been given of knowledge only a little."
Rūḥ carries several senses across the surahs, and the commentators divided here between the human soul, the angel Jibril, and revelation itself. The reply given is about jurisdiction more than content: the spirit belongs to God's amr, a word covering both his command and the matter at hand. The closing clause measures the questioners rather than answering them.
