Surah Ar-Ra'd — 13:39

يَمْحُوا۟ ٱللَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَيُثْبِتُ ۖ وَعِندَهُۥٓ أُمُّ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ

Yamhul laahu maa yashaaa'u wa yusbitu wa 'indahooo ummul Kitaab

Allah dilediğini siler, dilediğini bırakır; Ana Kitap O'nun katındadır.

God erases what he wills and confirms what he wills, and with him is the source of the Book.

Reflection

The closing phrase, umm al-kitāb, occurs three times and carries a different sense in each place: at 3:7 it names the clear verses that anchor the ambiguous ones, at 43:4 the Book kept with God. Commentators divide over what is erased here — rulings superseded by later ones, or the record of what a person's life will hold. The verse settles neither.
