We measure our lives in mornings that arrive whether we are ready or not. The Qur'an swears an oath by time itself, and it names haste as something woven into how we were made. When you feel behind, or when a season has passed that you cannot get back, these verses ask you to look again at the hours you still hold.
God assigns a measure to every thing, and each day He brings about some new matter. Your task is smaller and kinder than you fear. You are asked to fill the moment in front of you with faith and good work, and to leave what comes next to the One who set the sun and the dawn in their courses.
3:140 — If a wound has touched you, a similar wound has already touched the other people. Such days we rotate among humankind, so that God may know those who believe and take witnesses from among you — and God does not love the wrongdoers —
76:1 — Has there not come upon man a stretch of time when he was nothing worth mentioning?
21:37 — The human being was created of haste. I will show you my signs, so do not press me to hasten them.
65:3 — and will provide for them from where they did not expect. Whoever places their trust in God — he is enough for them. Indeed, God brings his purpose to pass; God has set a measure for everything.
55:29 — All who are in the heavens and the earth turn to him in need; every day he is at work.
18:23 — And never say of anything, "I will do that tomorrow,"
18:24 — without adding, "if God wills." And remember your Lord when you forget, and say, "perhaps my Lord will guide me to something closer than this to right conduct."
