We spend our lives learning who to love and how to hold that love steady. The Qur'an speaks of this quietly and often. It names God Himself as Al-Wadud, the Loving One, and it describes a bond that runs both ways: He loves His servants, and they love Him.
The verses gathered here reach beyond romance. They touch the affection that settles between strangers, the tenderness that grows in a family, and the mercy that softens hearts once turned away. Read them slowly when your own love feels thin, and let each one remind you where it first came from.
5:54 — You who believe, whoever among you turns back from their way of life — God will bring a people he loves and who love him, humble toward the believers, firm against the rejecters, striving in the path of God and fearing no critic's blame. That is the bounty of God; he grants it to whomever he wills. And God is all-encompassing, all-knowing.
3:31 — Say: If you love God, follow me, and God will love you and forgive you your sins. God is forgiving, merciful.
19:96 — As for those who believe and do righteous deeds, the Most Merciful will appoint for them love.
2:165 — And among the people are those who take, apart from God, rivals — loving them as God should be loved. But those who believe are stronger in their love for God. If only the wrongdoers could see, as they will see when they face the punishment, that all power belongs to God, and that God is severe in punishment.
11:90 — Seek forgiveness from your Lord, then turn back to him in repentance. Indeed, my Lord is merciful and loving.
85:14 — And he is the Most Forgiving, the Most Loving,
60:7 — It may be that God will bring about affection between you and those of them you now hold as enemies. God is All-Powerful, and God is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
42:23 — This is the good news God gives to his servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, 'I ask of you no reward for this, only affection among kin.' And whoever earns a good deed, we will increase its goodness for him. Indeed, God is forgiving and deeply appreciative.
