Something in you has decided it cannot stay the same. Maybe a habit has grown heavy, or a season has ended, or you simply woke one morning knowing you could no longer live the old way. The Qur'an meets that moment with a strange dignity: it tells you the turning has to begin inside, in the part of you no one else can see.
These verses hold two truths at once. They ask you to move, to strive, to lift your own hand toward the change you want. And they promise that God stands closer to that effort than you imagine, ready to receive the one who turns back even after long delay.
13:11 — For each person there are successive angels, before him and behind him, guarding him by the command of God. Indeed, God does not change the condition of a people until they change what is within themselves. And when God wills harm for a people, there is no turning it back, and they have no protector besides him.
29:69 — As for those who strive for our sake, we will surely guide them to our paths. And God is truly with those who do good.
39:53 — Say: my servants who have wronged yourselves through excess, do not despair of God's mercy. God forgives all sins. Indeed, he is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
65:2 — When they have reached the end of their term, either keep them honorably or part from them honorably, and call two just witnesses from among you, and uphold the testimony for the sake of God. This is what whoever believes in God and the last day is admonished by. And whoever is mindful of God, he will make for them a way out,
65:3 — and will provide for them from where they did not expect. Whoever places their trust in God — he is enough for them. Indeed, God brings his purpose to pass; God has set a measure for everything.
2:286 — God does not burden any soul beyond its capacity. To its credit is what it has earned, and against it is what it has wrought. Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or fall into error. Our Lord, do not lay upon us a burden like the one you laid upon those before us. Our Lord, do not burden us with what we have no strength to bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us; you are our Protector, so help us against the people who deny.
66:8 — You who believe, turn to God in sincere repentance. It may be that your Lord will wipe away your wrongs and admit you into gardens through which rivers flow, on a day when God will not disgrace the Prophet or those who believed with him. Their light will race before them and on their right, and they will say, 'Our Lord, perfect our light for us and forgive us. Indeed, you have power over all things.'
