The Qur'an treats human difference as deliberate, not accidental. "We made you peoples and tribes so that you might know one another" (49:13). Among His signs is "the diversity of your languages and colours" (30:22). "Had your Lord willed, He would have made humankind one community" — but He did not (11:118). Difference is written into creation on purpose.
And dignity is not earned: "We have honoured the children of Adam" (17:70) — all of them. "There is no compulsion in religion" (2:256). 49:13 — O humankind, we created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you might come to know one another. The most honored of you in God's sight is the most mindful of him. God is all-knowing, all-aware.
30:22 — Among his signs are the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. In that are signs for those who know.
17:70 — Indeed, we have honored the children of Adam, carried them on land and sea, provided for them from the good things, and favored them far above much of what we have created.
5:48 — And we have sent down to you the Book with the truth, confirming the scripture that came before it and standing as a guardian over it. So judge between them by what God has sent down, and do not follow their desires, turning away from the truth that has come to you. For each of you we have appointed a law and a clear way. Had God willed, he would have made you one community, but he tests you through what he has given you. So race toward what is good. To God is the return of you all, and he will then make clear to you the matters in which you differed.
11:118 — Had your Lord willed, he would have made all people one community, but they will not cease to differ —
2:256 — There is no compulsion in the way of life. Right guidance stands clear from error. Whoever rejects false power and believes in God has grasped the firmest handhold, one that will never break. And God is all-hearing, all-knowing.
