فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ۚ وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
Faquti'a daabirul qawmil lazeena zalamoo; walhamdu lillaahi Rabbil 'aalameen
So the last remnant of the wrongdoing people was cut off. And praise belongs to God, Lord of all the worlds.
Dābir names the hindmost part of a thing, the tail of a marching column, so the cutting off reaches the last of them. The line then closes on praise, which is the turn worth pausing over, since a scene of ruin ends with the formula used for a gift. Commentators attach that praise to the justice of the ending, closing a case the previous verse had left open when the gates were thrown wide.
