أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ يَقْبَلُ ٱلتَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَأْخُذُ ٱلصَّدَقَـٰتِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلتَّوَّابُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Alam ya'lamooo annnal laaha huwa yaqbalut tawbata 'an ibaadihee wa yaakhuzus sadaqaati wa annal laaha Huwat awwaabur Raheem
Czy oni nie wiedzą, że Bóg przyjmuje nawrócenie od Swoich sług i przyjmuje jałmużny, i że tylko Bóg jest Przebaczający, Litościwy!
Do they not know that it is God who accepts repentance from his servants and receives their offerings, and that God alone is the Ever-Relenting, the Merciful?
The verse before this told the Prophet to collect a purifying charity from what people own; here the taking is ascribed to God himself. One hand passes to another across two consecutive lines, which answers the group who had just confessed and were waiting to learn whether their offering counted. They are asked it as something they should already have known.
