وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا
Wa kaawa 'iba at raaba
I dziewczęta o zaokrąglonych piersiach - jednakowej młodości,
and well-matched companions of blossoming youth,
Atrāb is the word that shapes the picture: peers, people of one age, companions on level footing. Kawāʿib has been read more than one way, some commentators taking it as a description of physical youth and others hearing the fullness of life in it, and the surah leaves the matter at a single word. The reward arrives as four short rhyming images, answering the heat and thirst described a few lines above.
