لَّا تُدْرِكُهُ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ ۖ وَهُوَ ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ
Laa tudrikuhul absaaru wa Huwa yudrikul absaara wa huwal Lateeful Khabeer
Nie dosięgają Go spojrzenia, lecz On dosięga spojrzenia. On jest Przenikliwy, Świadomy!
No vision can grasp him, yet he grasps all vision; he is the Subtle, the All-Aware.
Idrāk means catching up with something and taking full hold of it, a stronger claim than seeing alone. The distinction carried real weight: some theologians read the verse as ruling out any vision of God altogether, while others took it to deny comprehension while leaving sight in the hereafter open, as other passages suggest. The name that closes the verse, al-Laṭīf, carries both senses — a fineness that escapes sight and a fineness that penetrates everything.
