Surah Fussilat — 41:47

Ilaihi yuraddu 'ilmus Saaa'ah; wa maa takhruju min samaraatim min akmaamihaa wa maa tahmilu min unsaa wa laa tada'u illaa bi'ilmih; wa Yawma yunaadeehim aina shurakaaa'ee qaalooo aazannaaka maa minnaa min shaheed

To him is referred the knowledge of the hour. No fruit emerges from its sheath, and no female conceives or gives birth, except with his knowledge. And on the day he calls to them, "Where are my partners?" they will say, "We declare to you — not one of us bears witness to that."

Reflection

The hour's timing is set beside two of the smallest hidden things: fruit still shut in its sheath and a pregnancy nobody can see yet. Akmām are the calyxes that close over a bud before it opens, so all three examples are of something enclosed, ripening on a schedule of its own, and arriving when it arrives. The question people press hardest sits in the same sentence as the ones nobody thinks to ask.
