وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ سَبِيلَنَا وَلْنَحْمِلْ خَطَـٰيَـٰكُمْ وَمَا هُم بِحَـٰمِلِينَ مِنْ خَطَـٰيَـٰهُم مِّن شَىْءٍ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ
Wa qaalal lazaeena kafaroo lillazeena aamanut tabi'oo sabeelanaa walnahmil khataayaakum wa maa hum bihaamileena min khataa yaahum min shai'in innahum lakaaziboon
Mówią ci, którzy nie uwierzyli, do tych, którzy uwierzyli: "Idźcie naszą drogą, a my poniesiemy wasze grzechy." Lecz oni nie poniosą żadnego z ich grzechów. Oni są kłamcami!
Those who deny say to those who believe, "Follow our way, and we will carry your sins." But they will carry nothing of their sins — they are liars.
The offer is phrased as a command the speakers issue to themselves, an unusual use of the imperative lam in the first person plural, so they order their own shoulders to take the weight. Arabic makes the pledge sound binding while the passage treats it as void, and verse 13 turns the accounting around, leaving the ones who made the offer with extra loads and the followers holding their own intact.
